Drunk Behaviour, VRM plate thefts And Drugs Concerns.

We hope you are well and thank you for the ratings and feedback. Here is an update for Burbage.

Two more sets of registration plate thefts. One happened on the 28th-29th of July on Boyslade Road and we had another incident last night, 3rd of August in the garage area of Banky Meadow where a set were taken from a vehicle between 22:30-23:00. If you have any CCTV in the area, please get in touch if you saw anything suspicious around this time. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk

Damage caused to a vehicle by youths at the Blackways Meadows allotments on the 2nd of August. Stones were thrown at the vehicle between 18:30-18:45. If you have any information on these people, please get in touch.

It appears an intoxicated suspect felt it was a good idea to climb on the top of a motor vehicle on Church Street on the 1st of August at around 23:25 causing damage to the vehicle. Again, any information on this person would be greatly appreciated to support the victim with costs perhaps. Do you know anyone who woke up Tuesday morning a bit worse for wear and was in the area?

We have received some good information relating to suspicious vehicles in the village. Please keep a look out if you are about or dog walking. If you see a vehicle you suspect stolen or suspicious, please get in touch. There are plenty of free sites and Apps where you can check if the vehicle is stolen. Please ensure you call 101 immediately if you see a vehicle with incorrect registration plates or if you suspect it is stolen. Car parks can be a place of interest.

We have also been completing work around reports drug activity. Please send us as much information as possible such as vehicle registrations, times and locations. Drug activity can kill if it relates to drug driving, can impact on the safety of local residents due to attracting drug dealers and those involved can take advantage of young and/or vulnerable people. Any information you can provide can make a difference to someone’s life. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk

Whilst residential burglary and vehicle crime have dropped off over the last week or so, please continue to be mindful especially if you own anything on two wheels such as a motorbike, electric bike or moped. These types of vehicles have been targeted all over Leicestershire. https://www.leics.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/keeping-vehicles-safe/theft-motorcycles-scooters/

Scams from residents to raise awareness

This morning, I received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number - *******1127
The message said "Hi Mum, I have just received my new phone and this is the number". As I wasn't aware of either of my children changing their phones, I ignored the message and then received a 2nd one saying "How are you?" I almost believed that this may be my daughter as I wasn't well yesterday but I phoned my daughter on her usual mobile phone and she confirmed that it was not from her.

Obviously some kind of WhatsApp scam!!!

“Just received the following notification on my mobile:

You've been exposed to someone who tested positive for sub-variant BA.5. You are eligible for a free test via "link".

Fake websites that are used to steal personal and financial information or infect devices with malware.

Almost certainly a scam. Just thought I would let you know.”

Saga car insurance, The letter I received from Saga was genuine but Another person took out a car policy on July 3rd in my name and address. I was expected to fill in many personnel details and most likely to pay for the policy. I do not own a car or have an insurance policy. The policy was registered to a different registration to my wifes car.”

“Another scam email, the address from which it was sent is the confirmation. Again, I suggest if anyone has a doubt about an email, always look at the sender’s address, it confirms it, apart me having ordered nothing! This has probably happened because I logged into my Paypal account only yesterday, nothing more!”

Thank you for your time and take care,

Darren 6035
