Local Priorities this week - "You said We Did"

Dear Residents,

Here we have a list below of the things that you have outlined as your priorities this week

Dog fouling

Anti-social behaviour

Road safety Issues

Priority 1: Dog Fouling

You Said: You told us that dog fouling is an issue within the local area.

We did: We have been in contact with the council to put some more signs up within the local area to remind those who are guilty of leaving it, to pick it up and the sanctions if they do not. Over the lighter evenings, when we conduct our park patrols, we will be keeping a cautious eye out for those who fall guilty of not cleaning up after their fluffy friend.

Priority 2: Anti-Social Behaviour

You Said: You have said to us that the anti-social behaviour within your area is causing a concern. This includes acts of drug taking, excessive noise, parties and many more. We are and continue to work with our partner agencies to reduce occurrences and take action on those who are causing an issue. Many of our local shops experienced this over the school breaks with children within the shops.

We did: Anti-social behaviour (ASB) takes many forms. From aggressive, noisy, or abusive behaviour to neighbourhood disturbances involving drugs or animals. We have been working in conjunction with partner agencies such as local councils, housing, and wellbeing services to tackle and prevent ASB using a problem-solving approach to achieve the best results.

We have also continued to conduct patrols and stop check any persons or vehicles involved in drugs. We encourage you to report any information related to anti-social behaviour. We have visited some shops across Wigston where the reports were heightened and provided some advice in relation to how to report anti-social behaviour.

Priority 3: Road traffic Issues

You Said: You told us that issues in relation to parking, speeding and cars without MOT and TAX in the local area is important to you.

We did: We have seized vehicles this month and conducted many investigations in relation to those vehicles that do not have insurance, as well as vehicles that have been abandoned in the local area. We continue to do this. If there are any suspicious vehicles continue to report to us. In relation to parking, if a vehicle is parking over your driveway and obstructing you from accessing the highway then we can act within reason to the situation in relation to this. In regards to school parking, we have conducted some patrols during school times, but this is an action of traffic wardens and the council as we have no powers. However, when we can head down to the schools we will do as part of our preventative patrols.
