In the last week we have been working alongside Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service within the university, the surrounding streets and into the student residential areas off campus.

Yesterday we visited the following areas to address issues around parking obstructions and access for emergency vehicles;

Coniston Crescent

Holt Drive

Kingfisher Way Estate 

Paget Street area

On this occasion, we didn’t encounter any issues, although there were a couple of tight squeezes. Whether you are a student, visitor or permanent resident please consider your parking decisions, ensuring there is enough room for a fire engine to fit through, without obstructing the pavement. We also had several members of the public speak to us about their local concerns.

Last week we held an event on campus educating students on road safety and fire safety within the home. LFRS came with the Hazard Express which is a virtual reality experience of a road traffic collision. They also completed a hot oil demonstration.
