Inspector's Weekly Update

Introduction

Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Melton & Rutland Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.

Inspector Darren Richardson

#YouSaid - What matters to you

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of visiting the new CCTV control centre provision for Melton Town centre. This upgraded facility

enables 24/7 monitoring of the council’s CCTV system, significantly boosting the ability for police to respond swiftly to incidents and

deter criminal activity.

By ensuring continuous surveillance, the control room supports operational policing by providing real-time information to law

enforcement agencies. This partnership enhances situational awareness, accelerates response times, and aids in gathering critical

evidence to support investigations.

The new control room underscores Melton Borough Council’s commitment to public safety, fostering a safer environment for residents, businesses, and visitors while strengthening collaboration with the police to address crime and antisocial behaviour effectively.

Through the upgrading of the control provision, local police now have direct monitoring of the CCTV from the police station which

further strengthens our ability to assess incidents quickly and deploy the required resources.

Shown below are Inspector Darren Richardson and David Walker from Melton Borough Council.

Winter is coming:

The weather over the last couple of days has kept our officers busy dealing with Road Traffic collisions, broken down vehicles and road blockages. I want to take this opportunity to remind all road users to ensure they are suitably prepared for their journeys at this time

of year.  Always allow extra time to clear windscreens etc. I would like to pass on my thanks to the Rutland 4 x 4 response team who

have been busy assisting stranded drivers and vehicle recovery over the last few days.

We continue to tackle the policing priorities that ‘YOU SAID’ were the most important issues in your communities. We continue to

target drug dealing and drug use in our larger towns, Road safety across the policing area and the reduction in anti-social behaviour.
