#YouSaid - What matters to you

We have listened to you and the concerns you have raised through surveys, community consultations and analysing crime

 trends.

Using this data, we have created the following Oakham Town & Barleythorpe priorities that the Dedicated Neighbourhood

Team will focus their efforts on:

Priority 1: Road Safety

You said: Speeding vehicles on Rutland roads is a priority you want us to address, specifically the lack of adherence to

30mph zones.

What we are going to do: We will provide a frequent high visibility policing presence to the affected areas with marked

vehicle patrols and regular monitoring. We will deploy the speed gun device and deal with offenders robustly where

appropriate. We will also continue to work with partner agencies, such as the Road Safety Partnership mobile speed camera van, to identify areas of concern and request deployment of that resource. We will then continue to publish the enforcement

statistics on the Neighbourhood Link messaging service.

Priority 2: Anti-Social Behaviour

You said: Through our consultation with you we have identified ASB as being a priority the people of Oakham Town & Barleythorpe want us to address.

What we are going to do: Patrols are being completed by the beat team in and around hotspot areas.  We are

engaging with juveniles in the area who have been identified as causing ASB. We are ensuring that the youngsters are

being educated about the impact ASB can have within the local community.

Priority 3: Drugs

You said: Through our consultation with you we have identified that the selling and use of drugs as being a priority the

people of Oakham town & Barleythorpe want us to address.

What we are going to do: Neighbourhood and Response Officers are patrolling hotspot areas where drug activity

has been brought to our attention. Intelligence is being gathered daily through community engagements. Planned

operations are in place around Oakham Town, Barleythorpe and Rutland which will be focusing on vehicles and addresses

that are involved in drugs.

#WeDid - What we are doing

What we have done:

This month we have taken part in several campaigns and operations in Oakham and force wide:

#CelebrateSafely. This ensures members of the public are safely displaying fireworks within homes and celebrating Halloween

without causing anti-social behaviour whilst out and about in the community treat or treating.

#OPSecptre (knife crime). This enables us to educate members of the public and visit local schools to raise awareness about knife

carrying. Officers have also been out in hotspot locations around Oakham conducting a knife sweeps.

And lastly, we have just finished Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week. We have carried out patrols in locations, where we have

had ASB reported, this has resulted in one juvenile being spoken to in relation to an adapted pedal cycle. This bike had been

adapted into a mechanically propelled vehicle and was being used on the road and paths around Oakham. After receiving

intelligence on where the bike was being used officers seized the pedal cycle thereby preventing further incidents.

Intelligence that is provided to the police is extremely useful and is either actioned straight away or used for more detailed planned operations which include warrants. Therefore, we continue to ensure members of the public are aware of ways in which intelligence

 can be provided. http://crimestoppers-uk.org/

Joint Agency working is still continuing with Rutland County Council’s Community Safety Team, this month we have identified a
