Police: ASB at Cottesmore and an update on today's shift

Good Evening Rutland North

This evening I have responded to a variety of issues.

Firstly, PC Rebecca Angel and I provided an emergency response to a Road Traffic Collision on the A1 between a lorry and a car, thankfully there were not any injuries. Apologies if you were caught up in the tailback, we had to shut one lane in order to get the car recovered safely.

I then responded to another emergency of a vehicle that had broken down on a bend, on a dark rural road. The elderly gentleman was from Hull and had been down to Market Harborough for the day, whilst on his way back he was unlucky enough to get not one… but two blown out tyres! A huge thank you to the member of the public who assisted me with getting the gentleman to safety.

The past couple of nights I have been spending some time at Cottesmore Community Centre, working in the meeting room upstairs. This means that I am out, visible and accessible to the community whilst still completing the inevitable paperwork we have to fill in nowadays! If you ever see the Police car outside when you’re passing, this is likely the reason why and please feel free to knock on the door, or come in if it is open and speak with me.

We have unfortunately received some reports of Anti-Social Behaviour committed by youths around the back of the centre over the past few weeks. It is not all youths, some are using the Multi Use Games Area responsibly. As often is the case with these sorts of things, it is the few that ruin it for the many. I and PCSO Lauren Lyall will be conducting regular checks and working from the centre when we can, please can parents have conversations with their children around where they are going and what they are getting up to in the evenings when they are out with friends, thank you.

I am still on duty for a couple more hours, conducting proactive Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) patrols and responding to incidents.
