Introduction

Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Valley Beat team Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA).

This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.

Valley Beat Team (NN43)

#YouSaid - What matters to you

Through Neighbourhood Link, social media and local engagement events, we have listened and will be prioritising the following -

Priority - To reduce anti-social behaviour at Diseworth Road, Castle Donington due to littering and signs of drug use.

Action Taken – We have conducted regular high visibility patrols at the location especially in the evenings when visitor numbers are the highest.  Positive feedback was received from residents thanking the beat team for their efforts indicates a dramatic reduction in anti-social behaviour.  We will continue to work on this issue.

Priority - To re-emphasise the Darker Nights crime prevention campaign, specifically targeting Castle Donington due to a recent spike in motorcycle thefts.

Action Taken – Social media campaigns have commenced, officers have conducted drop-in crime prevention sessions at the Community Hub providing advice, helpful posters and free security items.  High visible patrols are ongoing in the village and surrounding areas.  Data suggests there has been a reduction in motorcycle thefts.

Priority – To tackle parking concerns on Station Road, Kegworth to reduce the risk being caused to vulnerable users of the highway to include local school children.

Action Taken – Beat Officers have conducted daily patrols and visited addresses of vehicle owners who are parking inconsiderately to advise them. Twenty-three warning letters have been issued to drivers due to their poor parking, one vehicle was subsequently seized by officers when advice was ignored.  Recent patrols show a significant improvement in inconsiderate parking.

#WeDid - What we are doing

Car cruise update.

Car cruise activity continues to be a prominent issue across North West Leicestershire, specifically on NN43 Valley beat.   The beat team continues to tackle all cruise related anti-social behaviour and to take enforcement action where appropriate.  Officers are working alongside the Community Safety Partnership Team at North West Leicestershire District Council to reduce the frequency of incidents.

A multi-agency meeting was held recently in Coalville to discuss a joint approach across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to make the counties roads a less appealing place for car cruising. We often see the same vehicles travelling into Leicestershire to attend the cruise so joint working will help to reduce the threat and displace the issue.

Within the last few months, Police have received a number of incident reports (listed below), the majority of which have received a Police response.

Work undertaken to date is indicating a downward trend in incident frequency and numbers of vehicles attending.   There are ongoing roadworks at the A453 Moto traffic island which is also having a positive impact on reported incidents.  Enforcement of the Public Spaces Protection Order and the reduction of car cruising activity remains a priority for the Valley beat team.
