Hello Resident,
Thank you for your time in completing the short survey which gets sent out a few times a year. This really helps us review what you think we are doing well, and what you would like us to improve on. Here is a summary of the overall feedback we received. If you would like any direct communication regarding your survey submission (there were over a hundred comments so below is an overall summary of them), feel free to pop me an email darren.stretton@leics.police.uk We would also like to say a big thanks for the ratings we receive from residents on our regular messages, they are noticed and appreciated.
Overall, we received some positive feedback and results, which is great to see and very much appreciated by the local beat team, so thank you very much.
The positives overall relate to the communication we send out via Neighbourhood Link. Residents appreciate the information we send out which raises awareness of local crime, offers crime prevention support, and lets you know what we have been up to. The work local officers do, has also been fed back as appreciated. There were also a range of positive comments around local officers and individual examples of good work by local officers.
It has been commented within the results, that we are doing a good job in difficult times. Things that residents would overall like to see more of, is increased Policing presence in the area and concerns around levels of crime and Policing outcomes.
We acknowledge that it can be frustrating for local residents when it looks and feels like police are not taking the action expected, however due to live investigations and reporting restrictions there are many cases we continue to manage with suspects on bail and, sharing this wider could frustrate this investigation and lead to the collapse of trials.
Currently there remains several individuals that have been arrested for numerous offences within the Burbage area and who remain on bail for multiple matters. Unfortunately, these cases can take some time to get through the whole legal system, but we remain confident that charges and convictions will be achieved and in the meantime they remain on bail which restrict their movements and prohibit them from leaving the home during set times.
Court results can be found on the Leicestershire Police website under “News” Latest news | Leicestershire Police so it is worth looking there if you are interested in finding out what happens to any cases that do end up at court.
We also want to assure you that whilst on occasions you may not see a police officer on the beat a huge amount of Police resources gets spent on targeting priority offences and offenders. This includes arrests and processing in police custody suites, CCTV enquiries including reviewing this footage, Door to Door enquiries, victim support and witness statements, safeguarding work including meetings with partner agencies, address checks for missing and wanted people, targeted patrols in hotspot areas at key times – usually at night when you are all tucked up in bed and much more.
A good proportion of crime that happens in our area relies on things like CCTV and information from the public to support us with our investigations, so we do lots of follow up work trying to identify suspects and link cases. The neighbourhood link appeals support with this as it captures more residents that may not live in the immediate area of the offence location that would normally get a door knock but may still have useful information for us. We have had some really good outcomes as a result of these appeals. We also have strong relationships with local schools, businesses and partner agencies which all helps in dealing with local issues. The Burbage Beat team consists of myself (Darren) Pc Josh Symonds and Sgt James Cross.
If someone makes a call to the Police that needs attendance, then officers from anywhere in Leicestershire can and will attend. We as a beat team actively task our response teams to support our visibility by officers travelling through the beat on route to their jobs, completing planned patrols, or just being in and around the area when completing paperwork. We continue to look for innovative ways to tell you about this work when it happens, but it can be a challenging. Communication is key as they say, so we will be looking at ways of advertising more via neighbourhood link, including where we have been patrolling and when.
Crime figures can be found on the Leicestershire Police website Burbage | Your area | Leicestershire Police | Leicestershire Police where you can also compare Burbage to other areas.
We are very grateful for all the feedback we get as this helps us direct our resources to be in the right locations at the right times. Most importantly, it also helps us understand what matters most to the residents of Burbage.
We hope you have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The Burbage Beat Team.
