Priority 1 To reduce and prevent theft from stores and support local businesses with retail crime
YOU SAID: -Our business community have expressed that theft from their stores is a problem in the City Centre.
*DECEMBER UPDATE* WE DID: -PC Tom has conducted tailored visits at Specsavers and Primark. During the visits steps are taken to identify what action can be taken to improve guardians and prevent theft at the stores. Ensuring that stores proactively take steps to prevent theft is key to tackling theft from our retails stores. -Our PCSO's have been completing Christmas shopping patrols in key shopping areas including, Haymarket, Highcross, St Martins, Hight St, Humberstone Gate, Gallowtree Gate. -This priority was implement in October, during this time period we have charged perpetrators for a total of 131 offences of shop theft.
Priority 2 Darker Nights and Night Time Economy Safety
YOU SAID: -During the darker nights you want to feel safe when commuting, shopping and enjoying the night life.
*DECEMBER UPDATE* WE DID: -OP OVERSEE deployment with 4 locations found to have breached their conditions. Each have been served with a warning and will be revisited in the coming weeks/months to ensure they are complaint. Failure can result in further action being taken such as a license review. -A City Centre location will be taken to review following repeated unauthorised licensable activity and health and safety issued raised. -During the night time economy officers from the team have been deployed as part of Project Vigilant to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG).
Priority 3 Student and youth related Anti-Social Behaviour focused around Bath Lane area
YOU SAID: -Anti-social behaviour caused by students and youths during the darker evenings and at key dates such as Halloween and Bonfire night increases.
*DECEMBER UPDATE* WE DID: -Our ongoing work at this location with the student accommodations has resulted in a huge decrease in ASB and related crime. -There has been a uplift in security who are now present at key times and increased in numbers. -One of the sites has installed new fob access doors, more secure perimitter fencing and the installation of bollards to prevent vehicle related ASB. -The beat team have continued to show a high visibility presence at the location and will continue to do so once the priority is closed.
