Valley Beat Team (NN43)

#YouSaid - What matters to you

Through Neighbourhood Link, social media and local engagement events, we have listened and will be prioritising the following from January 2025 -

Priority - To reduce anti-social behaviour involving young people in Kegworth in response to a recent spike in incident reports.

Actions Taken – We have identified key locations and persons becoming involved in anti-social behaviour and have started four individuals on the ASB tiered approach. For the next three months additional high visibility patrols will be undertaken in the village by Neighbourhood Officers to deter anti-social behaviour.

Priority - To reduce vehicle related crime at hot spot locations across the Valley beat.

Action Taken – Social media campaigns to be undertaken.  Neighbourhood Officers to conduct drop-in crime prevention sessions at selected beat locations providing crime prevention advice and free materials.  Increased high visibility patrols to be undertaken.

Priority – To engage with hard to reach groups of older adults to reduce their fear of crime and seasonal isolation.

Action Taken – Neighbourhood Officers will increase the number of sessions they attend at community hubs/centres to provide direct access to local officers, provide reassurance and crime prevention advice to older adults.   Free crime prevention items will be provided to target harden property and reduce the fear of crime.

#WeDid - What we are doing

Last Quarter - October to December 2024 beat priority results:

Priority - To reduce anti-social behaviour at Diseworth Road, Castle Donington due to littering and signs of drug use.

Action Taken – During the priority period Neighbourhood Officers conducted twenty-six additional high visibility patrols on Diseworth Road especially in the evenings when visitor numbers are higher.  A number of vehicles/occupants were checked bu officers to deter drug use.  Positive feedback received by the beat team indicated a significant reduction in anti-social behaviour.

Priority - To re-emphasise the Darker Nights crime prevention campaign, specifically targeting Castle Donington due to a recent spike in motorcycle thefts.

Action Taken – During the priority period social media campaigns were undertaken.  Neighbourhood Officers conducted crime prevention sessions at the Castle Community Hub providing advice, posters and free security items.  High visible patrols were conducted within the village and surrounding areas.  Crime statistics show a marked reduction in motorcycle thefts in the locality.  There have been no reported thefts mid November to end of December period.

Priority – To tackle parking concerns on Station Road, Kegworth to reduce the risk being caused to vulnerable users of the highway to include local school children.

Action Taken – During the priority period Neighbourhood Officers conducted thirty-four additional high visibility patrols, they attended the addresses of vehicle owners found to be parking inconsiderately to given advice. Twenty-three warning letters were issued to drivers due to their poor parking, one vehicle was seized by officers when advice was ignored.  Evidence shows a significant reduction in parking concerns in the area.
