At the end of November on the 29th PCSO's conducted speed monitoring with the speed gun in Waltham on the Wolds, Croxton Kerrial and Eastwell. Between 3pm and 3.30pm monitoring took place on the A607 in Waltham in the Wolds near to the Mere Road Junction. The majority of vehicles were travelling within the speed limit with the exception of 2 cars captured at 35 and 34mph. Between 3.45pm and 4pm time was spent at different locations on the A607 in Croxton Kerrial targeting motorists from both directions. During this time no vehicles were above the speed limit. Before daylight was being lost 15 minutes was then spent in Eastwell between 4.20pm and 4.35pm. During this time 6 cars were captured above the speed limit at 35,41,40,43,37 & 35. Traffic Calming was then conducted on Mill Hill in Stathern and Colston Lane in Harby using the high visibility of the police vehicle as a deterrent whilst using the time to complete checks on the speeding vehicles above. Advice letters have been sent to those travelling 35mph and above On the 4th and 18th December PCSO Gray and PCSO Tailby was part of a local road traffic operation for Melton and Rutland and supported Rutland Police with speed monitoring in Essendine and Clipsham on the 4th December whilst a Melton neighbourhood officer covered Melton stopping 11 vehicles driving in thick fog without headlights on and giving suitable advice. The following road traffic related incidents have occurred across the beat in December: On 3rd December a 2 vehicle Road Traffic Collision occurred on Nottingham Road in Bottesford. An allegation of bad driving was reported on Melton Road in Scalford of a close pass of a cyclist which occurred on the 4th December. The driver has been issued a warning letter. On the 17th December response officers assisted the beat team at a single vehicle road traffic collision at East End, Long Clawson, where the driver had initially left the scene taking their registration plates. Response officers conducted a welfare check at the PNC keepers address and arrested a male believed to be the driver for perverting the course of justice. After the custody process an out of court disposal for wasting police time was utilised. We have also received the following reports in relation to Rural and Vehicle Crime. Castle View Road, Vehicle tracks left in a field believed to have been caused by Hare Coursing. Report of illegal fox hunting around Wymondham. A vehicle was stolen from Belvoir Academy carpark where suspects damaged the barrier. The vehicle was found nearby with the engine removed. A Delivery driver had a door stolen from stock inside the van whilst parked on Wrights Lane in Wymondham. A vehicle has been scratched whilst parked on Queens Close in Scalford. On the 18th December PCSO Gray conducted high visibility mobile patrols in the evening across the beat covering our more vulnerable rural locations. As well as supporting the beat, there is a requirement for PCSO's to cover the Front Office in Melton and Rutland providing a vital service to the whole of the Melton Borough and Rutland policing area which PCSO Gray has spent a considerable time doing throughout November and December limiting the time spent on the beat. |
