Monthy Newsletter from the Melton Town South Beat team

Introduction

Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Melton Town South beat Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.

#YouSaid - What matters to you

We have listened to you and the concerns you raised and the following:

You said: Drug users / dealing, and the crime associated with it are causing you concern.

What we are going to do: Whilst we will robustly deal with those who break the law, we will also seek to engage with the drug users in order to understand what factors are driving them to this lifestyle and what interventions we can offer.

You Said: Anti-social behaviour is causing you a concern.

What we are going to do: Identify those that are responsible and deal with them accordingly via the ASB incremental approach.

You said: Speeding and road safety on the beat is a concern for you.

What we are going to do: The speed enforcement vehicle as part of the Road Safety Partnership continues to attend locations on the beat.

#WeDid - What we are doing

On the 4th of December the pictured vehicle failed to stop for

beat officers. The next day we have located it and seized it

and we will be speaking with the driver / registered keeper in

due course.

We have been really busy again in the lead up to Christmas assisting our response colleagues with some very serious incidents in the area. PCSO Sal has often also been covering

the front enquiry desk at Melton Police Station.

PCSO Sal helped locate and return an elderly male into his care home on the 17th of December.

We are continuing to work on existing complex investigations and some of these are set for trial within the next few months. We hope to give you an update once there have been conclusions at court.

Unfortunately, there was a spate of burglaries on the area within the last month and the beat team have been assisting the investigations. A suspect was arrested and has been issued bail conditions whilst enquiries continue. The suspect was also dealt with for other matters and has been remanded into custody for these.

PCSO Sal has continued to patrol the schools on the beat around opening and closing times and issuing advice to any parents who decide to inconsiderately park their vehicles.

Meet your Team - Upcoming public engagements

Friday the 10th of January 2025 at The Edge Community Centre on Dalby Road. We will be attending the coffee morning between 10:00-12:00hrs.  Please feel free to pop along and meet the team and discuss any issues or concerns that you may have.
