Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Braunstone & Rowley Fields Beat, part of the Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA) for West Leicester. This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA. PCSO 6393 Julie WYCHERLEY |
With data provided by our local community, we have our three priorities for the Braunstone & Rowley Fields beat; Priority 1 - Anti-social Behaviour around Braunstone Park Priority 2 - Drug use and Dealing associated at known Hotspot addresses in the Neighbourhood Priority 3 - Theft from Motor Vehicles in the vicinity of Narborough Road and surrounding streets |
Priority 1 - The beat team are continuing to tackle Anti-social Behaviour-ASB in the area of Braunstone Park, Cort Crescent and into Gallards Hill. This is in relation to reports of youths with face coverings throwing eggs and other items at passing vehicles. I am pleased to say that in December this has slowed significantly in demand from where we were in November but there has still been 4 incidents reported. We have continued with our dedicated patrols in the area as a result and have sought assistance from our wider Neighbourhood Policing Colleagues and response Teams. We continue to work closely with local shops and Council CCTV to identify those responsible and will seek to take all available criminal and civil powers against those identified. Priority 2 - This priority was retained due to our community still reporting this as one of their main priorities and concerns. We had some positive results in October and November and am pleased to report further success in December. An address on Wilmington Road was identified to be a Cannabis Factory and once the investigation was complete the address has now been returned to the landlord. Furthermore, Sgt Smith has attended Leicester County Court with officers from Leicester City Community Safety Team and successfully applied for an Absolute Grounds Possession Order against a tenant whose address was used in Criminality and Anti-social behaviour towards the residents and Community of Gaskell Walk, Leicester. Despite trying to support the tenant and take other legal options previously, the courts have ordered the tenant vacate the premise or face eviction by force in the coming weeks. This demonstrates that partnership working between Police, Communities and Landlords can result in positive actions against those responsible for causing harm in our communities and action will be taken against those responsible even if it means re-possessing their homes should they not stop their behaviour and harm in our communities. Priority 3 - Since this priority was introduced the Beat Team and our colleagues from other policing departments have been increasing patrols and using Stop Search Powers where appropriate to tackle this issue and those responsible. We had 19 reported crimes in September and that slowed to 4 in November as reported upon last month. During December we have continued with our approach and we are please to say that we have not had any reports of vehicle crime in the area of Narborough Road. We continue using social media to highlight the issue and will continue with our hotspot patrols in the area to deter and apprehend those who think they can break into cars and take what they want. Remember, the simple things can make a difference. Make sure you lock your vehicle and don't leave valuables on display, making you the next target. |
