NEW ASHBY BEAT PRIORITIES NOW IN FORCE

Happy New Year from the Ashby Beat team , our new beat priorities are listed below.

NEW BEAT PRIORITIES FOR BEAT 46 JANUARY - MARCH 2025

ASHBY DE LA ZOUCH

Including PACKINGTON, RAVENSTONE and NORMANTON LE HEATH

1. USE OF E-SCOOTERS IN AND AROUND ASHBY TOWN CENTRE

PRIMARY AIMS

Whilst it is legal to buy an E-scooter it is ILLEGAL to ride it on a UK public road, cycle lane or pavement. The only place an E Scooter can be used is on private land.

We aim educate e scooter owners and the wider population with regard to their illegal use and its consequences.

This could include the risk of the scooter being seized under Sec 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002

Support local residents who have voiced their concerns over such activity.

Regular updates to community should generate further reassurance.

2.  ROAD SAFTEY INITIATIVE PACKINGTON VILLAGE

PRIMARY AIMS

Promote Road Safety throughout the village.

Take positive and proportionate action against those committing Road Traffic Offences

Local communities have raised speeding vehicles as a primary concern and offences are being committed where Camera Van deployment is not possible.

3. VEHICLE ASB ON TESCOS ASHBY CAR PARK

PRIMARY AIMS

Clamp down on Anti-Social driving on Tesco’s car park particularly in the evenings.

Issue warnings and seizure notices under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

Liaise closely with Tesco’s management and adopt a joint approach to solving the problem.

We will keep you updated in relation to what we have accomplished each month.

In relation to E Scooters we have already approached both Secondary Schools in Ashby and asked that pupils be made aware of this particular issue and enforcement protocols.

We have also provided the schools with documentation for the pupils and parents information.

Road Safety in Packington is now on the agenda and we are in the process of identifying suitable locations for speeding operations.

This priority was adopted recently in Ravenstone and proved very successful.

It was also well received by residents.

Vehicle ASB on Tescos car park is being monitored and our patrol results are being recorded on open SENTINEL REPORT 150797.

This enables us to see what is happening from one database to which all officers have access.
