Good morning,
Firstly, Happy New Year from the Riverside beat team!! We hope you all had a good festive period and ready for the year ahead!
Going into the first quarter of the new year, we'd like to keep you updated with what the team will be focusing on in the next few months along with a small insight of what we'll be doing to target them.
Priority 1: Residential and Commercial Burglaries - We're aware of an emerging threat of burglaries occurring on the beat, especially around the student accommodations. We will be increasing patrols around these areas as well as conducting door knocks to inform residents of incidents nearby, offering crime prevention advice and reassurance. We will be liaising with security teams and partner agencies to ensure everyone is being held accountable to help prevent further offending. Our aim will be to complete enquiries in a timely manner to help identify offenders and bring them to justice.
Priority 2: Theft from store offences - Ongoing issues with theft from store offences has continued and increased after the festive period, causing concern to businesses and the staff who work there. We will be assisting teams to identify offenders and obtain a positive outcome as quickly as possible. We will also apply for court orders, mainly Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO's) to prolific offenders. High visibility patrols will be completed in the vicinity of stores. Stores will be signposted to the Business Crime Prevention page on the Leicestershire Police website for advice and techniques to help prevent further thefts.
Priority 3: Drug use and Drug Taking - Drug offences in open spaces and residential areas have been a concern for you. Seeing this out in public is not only unsettling, but can sometimes feel unsafe to be around. We will be working with partners to ensure the open spaces are monitored and secured when they're supposed to be. We will develop intelligence provided by the public to help identify offenders and implement supportive measures where applicable. Good work will be posted on social media and to make people aware it's something we are focusing on.
As always, if you have any information you wish to let us know about, please call 101 or submit an online form from the Leicestershire Police website.
Many thanks Sergeant David Wilson | ||||
