Knighton Newsletter December 2024

Knighton December 2024 Newsletter

Introduction

Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Knighton Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.

– PCSO Paul Williams

#YouSaid - What matters to you

· Priority 1: Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in derelict buildings

You said: That youths had been entering derelict properties and were causing Anti-social Behaviour (ASB).

We did: We have continued contact with owners of derelict buildings in the Knighton Ward and have seen significant        decrease in reports across the board. Some sites now have their own Security monitoring systems and motion activated technology to allow us to respond faster to calls of trespassers on derelict sites.

· Priority 2: Burglaries

You said: That your neighbourhood has seen an increase in burglary.

We did: Officers have been meeting with residents and business owners on Francis Street / Allendale Road to remind everyone of the basics when it comes to  security as forgetting the little things can often put a business at risk of becoming an attractive target.

· Priority 3: Vehicle crime

You said: There has been an increase in vehicle crime across the beat area.

We did: High Visibility patrols, on foot and in vehicles have been carried out after dark.  An Operation that is run Leicestershire-wide is ongoing to  prevent and intercept thefts from vehicles and to speed up investigations.

#WeDid - What we are doing

· Newmarket Street in the Knighton Ward has seen an increase in police presence due to reports of groups congregating and concerns for drugs being used. A number of males have been stop searched over the December period which has lessened the number of reports we have received.

· Speeding ops took place over South Leicester throughout December. Ratcliffe Road was visited by our officers where a number of vehicles were pulled over and registered to be speeding in the area. You may see our officers before long conducting more speeding operations and “Fatal 4” operations.

· Pendlebury Drive has been receiving more attention due to an increase of calls from residents reporting groups           congregating in communal areas of flat blocks. An increased presence has lessened the calls received, however Local officers are persisting with patrols in order to dissuade groups returning.
