Inspector Perry UpdateWe have had a busy month so far for January…. Stolen vehicles have been recovered in Lutterworth, Fleckney, Oadby, Market Harborough and Wigston. Including work vans, motor vehicles, trailers and horse boxes the investigations are ongoing. Several proactive stops under suspicious circumstances have resulted in 13 ‘community resolutions’ for drug offences which is an out of court outcome diverting the offender towards mandatory rehabilitation intervention. Three persons have been arrested and sent to court who had been evading the police wanted on court warrants. We experienced severe flooding in several areas across the district and worked with our other emergency service colleagues to rescue people and cars stuck in the flood waters. Crime prevention events have been held across the districts with items available that are funded by the community safety partnership, and our PCSOs have delivered personal safety and crime prevention talks to several communities such as St Pauls church, Wigston Academy, Tesco Express Oadby, Oadby Gurdwara and beat surgeries have taken place across the area which provides a chance for you to speak with your local PCSOs. Much of the work carried out to keep residents of the district safe happens behind the scenes and often on a screen, so you may not always see the officers on a daily basis, but it does not mean they’re not working hard to keep you safe.
#YouSaid - What matters to youTheft - We have been receiving concerns from retail outlets regarding repeat offenders involved in theft and anti-social behaviour in their establishments, and the effect it has on their business and customers. We have acknowledged the seriousness of this issue and as a result have placed a dedicated resource to deal with persistent offenders engaged in this type of offence.
Drugs - A warrant was executed at an address in Oadby seizing 600 cannabis plants worth an estimated £10,000 three males have been charged.
Hundreds of hours have been spent by our PCSOs on foot or in vehicles patrolling in key areas for speeding and ASB which are most identified as a priority for residents.
Priorities for the area are:
- Domestic Abuse - Speeding - Anti-social behaviour - Burglary Dwelling
