Firearms Amnesty 3-28 Feb 2025

Leicestershire Police are supporting a national firearms amnesty through out the month of February- running between Monday the 3rd to Friday the 28th February. This amnesty only relates to Turkish manufactured top-venting blank firers (TVBFs) which are now illegal to possess following testing by the National Crime Agency and policing.  

There are four brands of Turkish Top venting blank firers : Retay, Ekol, Ceonic and Blow, so this is your opportunity to hand these firearm in, if you own one, and, avoid prosecution as the legislation which comes into force next month , would mean that buying or being in possession of this type of weapon will be illegal.

The Amnesty is being carried out in order to prevent these weapons getting into the wrong hands, for them to be adapted and be used in crime. During the amnesty period if you decide to hand in your TVBF'S, there will be no requirement to provide any of your personal details.
