Court result relating to Cannabis Grow

Two men have been jailed after an industrial scale cannabis farm was found at an address in Leicester.

On Monday 11 November 2024, officers from Central NPT and Neighbourhood Teams executed a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at a premises in St James Street, Leicester.

Discovered within the basement of the building was over two million pounds worth of cannabis plants.

Two men were arrested, Milaim Karanca, 21 of James Street, Leicester and Meti Trapozani, 29, of James Street, Leicester.

Both were charged with production of cannabis, and they were sentenced at Leicester Crown Court on Friday 31 January after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.

Karanca was sentenced to 26 months in prison while Trapozani was jailed for 20 months.

Sergeant Joseph Culverwell from Central NPT said, “These two men operated a very large and active cannabis farm.

“The proactive action we took disrupted the supply of these drugs, drugs which have a destructive impact on the local community.”

Sgt Culverwell said: “We will not tolerate drugs on our streets, and we will continue to act on information received and to bring those responsible for drug offending before the courts.

“If you have any information about drug offending in your community, please do report it to us so that we can take the action needed.”
