TOWN BEAT UPDATE

At the close of the week a quick round up and a quick word about the ASB from the previous week.  This week has been relatively uneventful within the town centre and it was topped off with a decent spell of weather to patrol in.   Daily patrols were carried out on foot day and night  within the town centre and most days liaising with the town security team which is proving to having a positive impact in terms of both shop thefts and ASB..............however

The half term holidays in the previous week saw McDonald's and Morrissons reporting daily incidents of ASB by around 10-12 youths who, after asked to leave and weren't interested in buying anything proceeded to abuse staff, throw items around the restaurant, shouting both racial and targeted verbal abuse  and a member of  staff in Morrissons also physically assaulted.  Thankfully both locations have brilliant CCTV and this week officers have been putting evidence together and door knocks will follow in the next few days.   Officers are also working in conjunction with partner agencies including MBC and the actions of the offenders may result in tenancy warnings to being issued to their parents.

With the weekend upon us officers will be out 24/7 both in uniform and plain clothes, in marked and unmarked cars keeping residents and shopkeepers safe .  So enjoy the onset of spring and we will see you in town over the next few days.
