I hope you are well.
I wanted to take this opportunity to share some important crime prevention advice regarding bank follow-off thefts. We have seen incidents where individuals withdrawing cash from banks are being followed and targeted by criminals. To help reduce the risk, please consider the following precautions:
- Be aware of your surroundings when withdrawing large sums of cash. If you feel uneasy, consider asking bank staff for assistance.
- Avoid openly displaying cash.
- If you suspect someone is following you, change your route, enter a busy area, or seek help from nearby businesses or authorities and call 999.
- Do not leave cash or valuables unattended in your vehicle, even for a short period.
- Remain vigilant for individuals loitering near bank entrances, observing customers.
- If you need to withdraw large amounts of cash, take a trusted family member or friend.
- Make sure you are aware of your surroundings and personal space especially if you have just visited the bank, if someone is in close proximity and has been following you please call 999 immediately.
By working together and staying vigilant, we can help prevent these types of crimes and keep our community safe. Please feel free to share this information with your family and friends, and if you have any concerns or further questions, do not hesitate to reach out.
Kind regards, George Butler PCSO 6168 - Belgrave Beat Team
