Neighbourhood Police Commander – Weekly update

Neighbourhood Police Commander – Weekly update

Inspector Ryan Ludlam

We have had another busy period across the City centre area.

Over the last week we have completed two further Operation Pedalfast deployments across the city regarding the illegal use of E-Scooters and E-Bikes, sadly we are still seeing the ongoing use. We have now seized over 150. For clarity these items do not get returned and are destroyed.

The deployments are in response to the community concerns, a recent survey completed by showed that over 75% of people say they are seeing a reduction in the number of illegal e-bike / e-scooter use. This work is being completed around a number of other proactive work in the city centre.

Some great proactive work has been done this month. We deployed undercover officers to the area of city centre and arrested a number of persons who were dealing class A drugs in the city centre. Criminal investigations are ongoing and a court case will follow.

On a lighter note, its interesting how some posts grab the attention, PC Chris and his cone! So following multiple requests from news outlets I was able to congratulate PC Chris on the most shared post Central have had this year!

Crime prevention events have been held across the city, our PCSOs have delivered personal safety and crime prevention talks to several communities and beat surgeries have taken place across the area which provides a chance for you to speak with your local PCSOs. Central Leicester | Leicestershire Police
