Loughborough Central Neighbourhood update

Dear Neighbourhood Link Member,

Good afternoon, I hope you are well!

BEAT TEAM NEWS…. It is with great sadness to tell you that our sergeant PS 1948 Christopher HAYTON has hung up his cuffs for the last time and has retired after achieving 30 years in the police force. We wish him all the best and he will be sorely missed, and in his replacement, we have gained a lovely new sergeant PS 2075 Katie HAZARD, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome her to beat 62 – Loughborough Central, she is already getting stuck into the job and got it all in hand.

Here is the crime update for Loughborough Central (NL62) for the period 12th March 25 to 31st March 2025 and a reminder of our Policing Pledge.

Crime Report

Burglary other than dwelling3
Residential Burglary5
Robbery3
Theft From Motor Vehicle4
Theft of Pedal Cycle/Motor Vehicle5
Antisocial Behaviour

What have the neighbourhood team been doing?

On 28th March our designated neighbourhood officers where tasked with assisting the Neighbourhood Priority Team (NPT) who executed a warrant at an address where a substantial amount of cannabis and cash was seized. The occupants were arrested and released under investigation. Even though this was not on our beat, it is an amazing outcome that a substantial amount of cannabis has been taken off the streets.

On 29th March, our beat team were tasked to assist Trading Standards with an enforcement, following an investigation into the sale of illegal tobacco products from a store on Church Gate Loughborough. One male has been arrested and being dealt with by Trading standards. The store has been closed pending completion of the investigation.

Our ASB patrols continue in the hot spot areas and we are including Stone Yard and Church Gate in these as we have had multiple reports of drug related ASB and loitering and criminal damage to vehicles which are being investigated.

Youths have been causing ASB in the Loughborough Town Centre and fast-food establishments and public carparks. These youths have been identified, and we are currently in the process of speaking to them at the station with their parents in partnership with the Youth Offending Team.

Our Priorities Actioned 01 March 2025

To reduce the number of thefts in and around Loughborough town centre

Cycle register schemes continue and it is pleasing to note that there has been a significant decrease in the number of cycle theft reports

Reduce Anti-social behaviour reported by residents across the local area in varying formats including car cruise meetings, noisy parties

Additional officers are currently being deployed as part of Operation Lexical, whereby officers will patrol in and around Loughborough town centre in order to combat reports of anti-social behaviour
