Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We have visited Burbage junior School today to speak to Year 6 following some local concerns around anti-social behaviour in the area and at local parks after school. We spent around 30 minutes engaging with pupils and hope the messages we delivered are taken on board by those involved. We are visiting Hastings next week in efforts to reduce any concerns as we approach the school holidays.

Burbage Police Newsletter April 2025
Issue: Spring Update April 2025
Your dedicated Neighbourhood Team for Burbage. Sgt James Cross, PCSO Darren Stretton and PC Josh Symonds. Leicestershire Police website
Welcome to our monthly update for the residents and communities of the Burbage Neighbourhood Policing Area. This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
#YouSaid - What matters to you
We have listened to you and the concerns you raised and prioritised the following: Below are our new priorities which we will be actioning this month.
Priority 1: Road Safety
You Said – Road safety is consistently raised as a concern around the village with a variety of concerns being raised which include pavement parking, obstruction and speeding
Priority 2: Anti-social Behaviour
You Said – Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) around local parks and streets in Burbage is a cause for concern, you noted incidents of cannabis/drug use, assault, bullying, criminal damage and general rowdiness.
Concerns are that with the Easter holidays approaching young people will have more time on their hands and the warmer weather and lighter nights will encourage more people out that is likely to leader to wider ASB issues.
Priority 3: Vehicle Crime
You Said – Vehicle crime is occurring across the village, with the majority of reports relating to overnight thefts from vans. Hotspot areas are linked to local hotels and last year during quarter 1 police saw an increase in this type of offending.
#WeDid - What we are doing
Road Safety - We have visited areas where residents have raised concerns around speeding. Results of our visits to Featherston Drive, Hinckley Road and Brookside were advertised on our weekly updates. We have visited Burbage Infants to complete a road safety assembly to the school and also left “tales of the roads” books for the infants and Juniors. The assemblies focused on messages that the children could take home to parents around dangerous driving and parking. We have also been dealing with reports of dangerous parking and completing stop checks in the area. Work has also been done to target the MVAS boxes around school areas.
Anti-social Behaviour – We have recognised the concerns of the community and have made it our priority to tackle this issue. We have lots planned on the run up to the Easter break which will include assemblies to be held at Hastings High School discussing what ASB, the impact it has on the community and the consequences if caught by police.
We would encourage local residents to report issues to us and share information and CCTV, we have an excellent information sharing system with the school that will continue over the holidays and enables prompt identification of perpetrators.
Over the coming weeks, we intend to increase our patrols in the area, use social media to engage with the community on this issue and actively target individuals identified as being involved.
Vehicle Crime - It has been another good month in relation to low levels of vehicle crime. One report of theft of vehicle registration plates and one attempt theft from a van on Sketchley Grange hotel car park. Police activity includes stop checks, targeted patrols and supporting residents with crime prevention items such as window alarms, RFID wallets and advice such as purchasing steering locks, using garages or blocking in your high value vehicle. This month has has multiple arrests, searches and stop checks which all helps in showing visibility and deterring criminals.
