Report of a burglary to the Vape shop on Rainbow way. Items taken between 03:00-03:45 on the morning of the 12th of April.

Sporadic reports of suspicious behaviour around building sites including a report of 3 boilers being taken from new properties on Sapcote road between the 12th and 14th. We continue to ask builders to secure unoccupied properties and take actions such as security and CCTV.

Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement

We have been out completing patrols at local parks including Colts Close, Tilton Road, Rugby Road area and Hinckley Road Park. We spoke to lots of youths and residents. No issues at time of patrols.

We attended Smithy Lane to complete patrols following reports of “boy racer” type behaviour involving vehicles. Follow up work completed. We have also been visiting and working with local shops and businesses to support with CCTV following recent reports of thefts and shoplifting.

Crime prevention and issues to be aware of

A bit of local good news regarding court results around drug dealing gangs. Please click on the link for full details (well worth a read). A lot of safeguarding work we complete locally relates to protecting young people from exploitation and criminal behaviour.

A policing operation which uncovered drug dealing gangs operating between Leicestershire and the West Midlands has led to eight men being jailed.

Evidence gathered over a year by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit led to the discovery of the two groups, based in Hinckley, Leicestershire, and in the West Midlands, who were involved in the collection, distribution and sale of class A drugs.

As the investigation continued, members of the groups and their roles were further established which led to the arrests of the eight men in April last year.

On the 11th of April, those eight men were sentenced at court to a total of more than 60 years’ imprisonment after all pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

"Despite several media posts to the contrary, we are aware, and dealing with recent brick throwing incidents on Hinckley Road, close to the M69 junction.
We have had 2 reports which have been recorded as crimes and are under investigation. If anyone else has been a victim, please ensure this is reported.
I attended the site yesterday, and the reports have been allocated to officers for ongoing investigation. The local beat team and beat Sergeant have been made aware. I have instructed for further patrols in the area.
If anyone has any further information, please do call or message us, or report to Crimestoppers. Sgt Alex."

We hope you all have a peaceful Easter Break.
