We are encouraging residents to take a moment to review some simple steps that can help keep you, your family, and the wider community safe.

Protect Your Belongings

• Keep bags securely fastened
• Keep phones and valuables out of sight
• Stay alert when walking through quieter or unfamiliar areas

Be Aware of Your Surroundings

• Avoid distractions such as headphones or mobile phone use while walking
• Pay attention to people, vehicles and activity nearby
• Increased awareness significantly reduces the risk of opportunistic crime

Home Security

• Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even if you are only out briefly
• Report any suspicious behaviour near homes or gardens

Vehicle Safety

• Remove all valuables from display
• Check your vehicle is locked before leaving it
• Report any suspicious activity around parked vehicles

Night‑Time Safety

• Use well‑lit, busier routes where possible
• Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return
• Keep your phone charged and accessible
• Trust your instincts and move to a safer public place if something does not feel right
• Plan safe routes or transport before heading out
• Call police immediately if you feel unsafe or at immediate risk
