NEW PCSO TRAFFIC POWERS

PCSOs in Leicestershire now have expanded traffic powers to help keep our roads and communities safe.

We can now deal with the following offences:

• Not wearing a seatbelt
• No valid MOT
• Speeding offences
• Unnecessary obstruction of the highway
• Using a mobile phone while in control of a vehicle
• Power to stop motor vehicles
• Power to require production of a driving licence
• Power to require proof of valid insurance and test certificates
• Power to seize vehicles with no insurance
• Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence

These new powers will enable PCSOs to be more effective in tackling unsafe driving and supporting safer communities.
