!!Neighbourhood Policing Commander Update - East Leicester News!! |
||
|
April has continued to be a busy month for East Leicester and it has been great to see the weather breaking, crime falling whilst local communities have been out and about celebrating.
As we look towards tomorrow for St Georges Day and the weekend for the annual Vaisakhi procession through the city we have been working with key partners and organisers to ensure that the events are successful, safe and lawful! It is great to see various members of communities take the lead to ensure their success and please do not be surprised to see police there. We are there to ensure public safety and it is a great opportunity for us to educate officers and engage with vast numbers of the community!
You may have seen a heightened presence of your local beat teams the last month as we reviewed and redesigned our patrol plans. This is not just physically and has included officers being on the Radio, using social media and being present at community and partnership meetings to help deal with local problems.
As an update Operation Bend is continuing across the Netherhall, Thurncourt, Thurnby Lodge and wider afield across neighbouring policing areas to help understand the local challenges around criminality and anti-social behaviour primarily caused by youths.
This sees the deployment of our proactive teams, neighbourhood teams and key partners who you should see out and about with some great early wins around disruption and diversion.. but this isn't a quick hit and will need community support. Thank you for all the local residents who have got involved so far.
Lastly I have spent some time at court this week following a male being charged with organising an unauthorised procession last year during the festival of Ganesh. The male pled guilty at court and we will be working with the council to continue to hold people to account where they break the law ensuring the wider impact of such events is understood. IF you need any advice about an event you are holding in the near future please reach out to the council at Organise an event in Leicester | Leicester City Council
Thank you for all your help and support, please do get in touch and if you have 2 minutes please complete the NHL survey! Leicester Police Confidence Survey 2026 - Neighbourhood Link
