Neighbourhood Link Update – Vehicle Crime Prevention (NL56 Beat)

We are making residents aware that there have been several reports of vehicle-related crime across the villages this month. These incidents include offenders trying car door handles, a van being broken into to steal power tools, theft of a van, theft of a motorhome, and number plates being stolen from vehicles.

While investigations are ongoing, we are asking residents to remain vigilant and take steps to reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

Crime prevention advice:

Always lock your vehicle and double-check doors and windows, even when parked on your driveway.

Remove valuables from sight, including bags, wallets, and electronic devices.

Avoid leaving tools or equipment in vans overnight where possible.

If tools must be left in a vehicle, consider:

Parking in a well-lit or secure location
Using additional security such as alarms, immobilisers, steering wheel locks, wheel clamps, or tool safes
Marking tools and recording serial numbers

Check vehicles regularly to ensure number plates are secure and report any missing number plates immediately.

For motorhomes and vans, consider additional physical security such as tracking devices, ground anchors, or secure storage.

Report any suspicious behaviour or vehicles seen in your area.
