Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage since the 16th of April.
Reported Crime and Appeals
As we touched on in our last report, there was a residential burglary on Victoria Road, we then had a further report from Victoria road. Access to properties was by smashing glass on rear doors. Items such as laptops, collector cards and jewellery/cash taken whilst the residents were out. Incidents are believed to have occurred between the 15th and 16th of April. Please get in touch if you have any CCTV or information and you have not already spoken to officers. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Report of some potential rogue traders or persons with criminal intentions in the areas of Lucas Road and Cowper Road on the 21st and 22nd of April. No crimes identified but the general behaviour caused concern to several residents (looking over gates etc).
Report of Nitrous oxide cannisters dumped on the Tilton Road Park, this linked in with some reported vehicle related anti-social behaviour on Brookside on the 22nd of April. We are completing work to deal with those involved.
Report of a teenage youth riding around the Coventry Road/Windsor Street area on an E-bike (probably illegal) with several other youths on board (faces covered). Incident happened around 17:35 on Thursday 23rd. If you have any information as to who these youths are or where they live, please get in touch.
Since our last update, we have received 60 calls to Police regarding Burbage related matters. 17 of these calls were emergency and 11 were priority calls.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We organised and completed our patch walk of the East Close area, with local councillors and members from Hinckley and Bosworth council. We completed door knocks, spoke to residents and took away feedback, which we will be looking to act upon to improve the general area. Issues such as parking, vehicle damage, suspicious activity, lighting and CCTV were spoken about.
Complaints received regarding the parking outside the Boyslade Road garage/Twycross Road and general parking around this area. I have contacted Hinckley council to see what work can be done to prevent repeat offenders going forward, and to make the area safer for motorists and pedestrians using the area.
We are also receiving multiple complaints regarding inconsiderate parking and volume of traffic from areas such as Brookside/Burbage Road area, Sketchley Hill Primary area and Rugby Road. Part of the issue is the temporary traffic lights causing backlogs of traffic, but this is not helped by inconsiderate parking in the area, not abiding by basic road signs, completing U-turns where it is not safe to do so, which is affecting residents and causing further road safety concerns. We are trying to work with partner agencies and will be completing targeted patrols as and when we are available to do so.
Michael Maughan jailed. Some news regarding a couple of residential burglaries in Burbage from January of this year. Actions such as door to door and appeals for information are all part of the initial work we do locally, to try and identify and bring those responsible to justice.https://www.leics.police.uk/news/leicestershire/news/2026/april/this-has-only-been-possible-due-to-the-tenacity-of-the-investigation-team-prolific-burglar-jailed-for-month-long-crime-spree/
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
We occasionally get complaints regarding the use off drones in the area. If you would like to know more about drones, please visit this link. The Drone and Model Aircraft Code | UK Civil Aviation Authority
Please continue to ensure your property is alarmed and secure if you are going away for any lenght of time. Remove cash, jewellery and valuables. Whilst reports are still low, opportunistic criminals will seize upon obvious and easy targets and we are having reports of suspicious persons in the area, so you never know what they are upto. Get in touch if you would like a copy of our crime reduction items catalogue (window alarms, PIR alarms, cactus spikes etc). Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
You may or may not have received a request to complete the confidence survey for April. We would really appreciate if you could complete this survey as the more people that complete it, the better picture we get of your thoughts. Thank you and take care.
