We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage since our last update on the 12th of September. 

Reported Crime and Appeals

Report of rogue traders on Winchester Drive where rogue traders have attempted to complete roof work without permission. The suspects were in a white van and attended the area at 16:00 on Saturday the 12th of September. We have also received a report of cold calling on Herford Way. We will be completing patrols and working with residents to minimise this type of behaviour in the area. 

Report of an attempt residential burglary on Ilminster Close between 22:00 on the 14th and 07:00 on the 15th of September. Suspects have attempted to gain entry via the back patio doors. It is suspected this incident was vehicle related. If you have any CCTV of suspicious persons or vehicles in this area during this time, please get in touch. 26000553024

Report of theft of registration plates from a Nissan Qashqai parked on Windsor Court on the 18th of September. 26000561472

Reports of suspicious activity on Darley Road and Cowper Road over the last week. No crimes reported relating to these two sightings. 

Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement

Officers have recovered two vehicles in Burbage which were identified as being stolen from out of area. If you see an abandoned vehicle, there are multiple free online websites and apps where you can check if it is stolen or contact Police immediately if you believe it may be stolen. 

We have spent time this week completing patrols, dealing with ongoing neighbour disputes, youth related bullying reports, and identifying/dealing with E-scooters. 

Patrols include areas such as Woodland Avenue, Sketchley Meadows industrial estate and Tilton Road Park. 

We are currently in contact with HBBC regarding ongoing issues with local garages and residents where vehicles are being dumped in the street. We will be seeking a positive outcome to stop this from continuing and hopefully make the streets a bit safer for residents. 

Outcomes can include community protection notices, vehicle seizure and tenancy action. 

Crime prevention and issues to be aware of

As the darker nights arrive, please ensure you have considered your home and vehicle security. As you have seen from the above reports, whilst we continue to look very good relating to actual vehicle thefts and burglaries, there appears to be sporadic attempts and suspicious/criminal activity in the area. Please protect your property as much as you can and get in touch if you would like any support or information. 

We would like to make residents aware of reports of suspected rogue traders operating in the area of Hinckley.

These individuals are reported to have approached residents, including elderly and vulnerable people, offering roof cleaning and maintenance work. In many rogue trader cases, prices can increase significantly once work has started, with little or no paperwork, contracts, or information about cancellation rights being provided.

Following enquiries, officers arrested a man and seized a vehicle and equipment. The individual has been released on bail while further enquiries continue.

How to protect yourself from rogue traders:
✅ Do not feel pressured into agreeing to work on your doorstep.
✅ Always obtain multiple quotes before committing to any work.
✅ Use reputable, established traders and check reviews or recommendations.
✅ Ask for written quotations and ensure you understand any terms before agreeing to work.
✅ Be cautious of anyone offering services unexpectedly or claiming work is urgently needed.
