We want to share the latest updates on our Belgrave Neighbourhood Policing priorities. Our team has reviewed recent reports and identified key areas where we are focusing our efforts to keep our community safe.

PRIORITY NE09 – Crime: Distraction Thefts

We expect an increase in distraction thefts during the summer months.

Our Actions • High-visibility patrols in shopping areas, parades and transport hubs
• Plain-clothed patrols in hotspot locations
• Engagement with the public, especially vulnerable groups
• Prevention advice: • Keep bags zipped and close
• Avoid displaying valuables
• Intelligence gathering to identify patterns and repeat offenders
• CCTV monitoring and sharing information with other teams
• Proactive patrols around cashpoints, cafés and car parks
• Partnership working with shops, businesses and councils
• Awareness campaigns: • "Keep it close, keep it zipped"
• "Don't leave belongings unattended"
• Offender disruption through targeted checks and joint operations
• Victim support and reassurance patrols
